Late Breaking Research Poster at AACR: An Automated Approach to Gene Panel Design

Dr. Victor Weigman, Director of Translational Genomics at Q2 Solutions, Dr. Matthew Schu, Senior Bioinformatician at Q2 Solutions and Dr. Mark Kiel, CSO and Founder of Genomenon will present a late-breaking research poster at AACR.  The poster is titled “An Automated Approach to Identifying Disease-Gene Associations from the Medical Literature to Inform Gene Panel Design.”

In the poster presentation at AACR, Drs. Weigman, Schu and Kiel will discuss how they accelerated an AML gene panel design for companion diagnostics from months of research to less than a week by automatically mining the full text of over 2.5M scientific articles for disease, gene & variant associations.  These associations provided a set of candidate genomic biomarkers for AML with literature citations for each biomarker. From these candidate biomarkers, the final candidate genes and hotspots were selected for final incorporation into the gene panel.

The poster will be presented from 1 to 5PM on April 2nd, 2017 at the American Association for Cancer Research annual meeting.  The Session location is Poster Section 34, Poster Number 8.
